Cancer Claims Life of 'Incredible Hulk' Star
Los Angeles (AP) -- Actor Bill Bixby, star of television's 'The Incredible Hulk,' died Saturday of cancer. He was 59.
Bixby, who also starred in the series 'My Favorite Martian' and 'The Courtship of Eddie's Father,' died at his Century City home, publicist Harlan Boll said.
As the cancer spread, Bixby went public with his disease, appearing on the 'Today' show and 'Entertainment Tonight.'
Bixby's acting career spanned three decades. He is perhaps best known for his role as Dr. David Banner, a scientist who transforms into the Hulk when enraged, in the 1977-82 'Incredible Hulk' series.
Bixby also starred as Tim O'Hara, an earthling who becomes friends with an alien named Uncle Martin in the 1963-66 'My Favorite Martian' series.
In 'The Courtship of Eddie's Father,' which ran from 1969-72, Bixby played Tom Corbett, a widowed father raising his young son, Eddie.
Bixby is survived by his wife, Judith; two daughters, Emily and Sarah; and a son, Christopher.
