Will Two NASA Astronauts Still Be Riding Around Space In 2023?

NASA's original goal of returning the two astronauts home on the spacecraft that took them to the space station will not take place.

NASA has had its sights set on a Saturday announcement regarding the fate of two astronauts currently residing on the International Space Station for 80 plus days now.

The Spacecraft

The Starliner spacecraft was created by Boeing to help NASA crews reach the space station.

Unfortunately, the spacecraft endured some technical difficulties, forcing a hold on any return to Earth plans.

The Astronauts

NASA astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams have been waiting patiently on the ISS since their arrival in April.

Boeing has made attempts to launch a second Starliner to retrieve the astronauts, but the launch has also been delayed due to technical difficulties.

Adding to their frustration, a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft that was set to bring them home experienced its own set of unfortunate events.

It appears that the two astronauts might have to wait until 2023 to return home.
