Verstappen Penalised Five Grid Places

Max Verstappen will start the Belgian Grand Prix from sixth place after being penalised five grid places for using an additional gearbox. The Red Bull driver set the fastest time in qualifying but has been demoted due to the penalty. It means that Ferrari's Carlos Sainz will start from pole position, with Sergio Perez in second and Fernando Alonso in third.

Qualifying Highlights

Qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix was a dramatic affair, with the rain playing a major role. The track was wet at the start of the session, but it gradually dried out as the session progressed. This meant that the drivers had to switch from wet tyres to slick tyres, which made for some tricky conditions. The rain also caused a number of delays, with the session being red-flagged twice.

Verstappen was the fastest driver in the wet conditions, but he was unable to maintain his pace when the track dried out. Sainz, on the other hand, was able to improve his time on the slick tyres and take pole position. Perez was also impressive, and he will start the race from second place. Alonso, who has been in excellent form all weekend, will start from third place.

The Belgian Grand Prix is one of the most iconic races on the Formula 1 calendar, and it is sure to be a thrilling event. With Verstappen starting from sixth place, there is a good chance that we could see a new winner in Belgium. The race will start at 3pm BST on Sunday 29th August.
