A new hero emerges for City

Moreno impresses in debut

Manchester City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Stefan Ortega Moreno on a three-year contract. The 29-year-old joins the Premier League champions from Arminia Bielefeld, where he made 33 appearances in the Bundesliga last season.

Moreno has been capped twice by Germany at Under-21 level and was part of the squad that won the European Championship in 2017. He is expected to provide competition for Ederson in goal for City.

City manager Pep Guardiola said: "Stefan is a goalkeeper with great potential. He is a good shot-stopper and has a good command of his area. We are very happy to have him join us."

Moreno said: "I am very happy to join Manchester City. It is a great club with a great manager and I am looking forward to working with Pep and the team."

Moreno made his debut for City in a pre-season friendly against Barcelona, and he impressed with a string of saves. He is expected to make his competitive debut for the club in the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on August 15.
